Workshop on Membrane Computing at UCNC 2018

Workshop Proceedings

The proceedings of the workshop could be found here.

Workshop Description

Membrane computing is an area of computer science aiming to abstract computing ideas and models from the structure and the functioning of living cells as well as from the way the cells are organised in tissues or higher order structures. Membrane systems, also called P systems, are distributed and parallel algebraic models processing multisets or other objects like strings in a localized manner; evolution rules and evolving objects are encapsulated in compartments delimited by membranes or in cells, with an essential role played by the communication among compartments or cells and with the environment.

The aim of the 4th Workshop on Membrane Computing at UCNC 2018 is to bring together researchers working in membrane computing and related fields of unconventional and natural computation, in a friendly atmosphere enhancing communication and cooperation. The Workshop will focus on important new theoretical and experimental results in membrane computing and their impact on related fields.

Topics

Authors are invited to submit papers original papers or extended abstracts in all areas of membrane computing.

Submissions

We invite the submission of long papers (12 pages maximum), or extended abstracts (6 pages maximum) to one or both of the organizers of the workshop:

Rudolf Freund (rudi@emcc.at)

Sergiu Ivanov (sergiu.ivanov@univ-evry.fr)

Papers must be submitted in Portable Document Format (PDF); the revised version of manuscripts must be prepared in LaTeX (including a bib-file), using the Springer LNCS style <http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs/lncs+authors>.

Papers must not be under simultaneous consideration by any other conference with published proceedings. Accepted papers will be published in the WMC Proceedings (available in electronic form at the Workshop) and are expected to be presented at the Workshop. Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit extended versions for publication in a special issue of the new Springer Journal of Membrane Computing.
